'It's very important that the student enjoys or has a connection to the pieces they play.'
Teaching Philosophy
For me, Music focuses the mind, it fosters imagination and connects ideas which otherwise may seem unrelated. I believe in teaching in ways that asks the student to explore sound and the culture of sound or music in ways that it relates to them. I strive to connect the physically of playing music with what music is to them. I like to teach ear training encourage listening practice, so that students can connect with what they are playing. It's very important that the student enjoys or has a connection to the pieces they play. I have found that it is much harder to learn if the end goal is not something relatable or enjoyable.
